The Sleep Health Foundation promotes maximizing your rest and recovery, raise awareness of the common sleep disorder, obstructive sleep apnoea and asks for support for the Foundation's work in education and research by raising awareness or donating during the week.

The Foundation offers an online survey to complete and send to family and friends who snore, a social media campaign to join using #dontignorethesnore #CyourGP #sleepmatters

Suggestions given for better sleep include:

  • Have a regular sleep pattern
  • Aim for 7 - 10 hours
  • Technology out of the room
  • Relax for the hour before bed
  • Get comfortable
  • Avoid caffeine, cigarettes and alcohol
  • Avoid napping if possible
  • Don't go to bed hungry or too full
  • Get some sunlight during the day
  • Limit fluids 1 hr before bed
  • Seek medical attention if you don't regularly sleep well
